Our vision

Ocean-forward thinking in practice.

Marine ecosystems are of vital importance to humans and the planet, but face an increasingly uncertain future. Expanding our knowledge of marine ecosystems, and enhancing efforts to conserve and manage these undersea habitats, requires a multi-scale approach centered on unbiased science. By combining technical expertise, creative cross-disciplinary ideas, and rigorous data analysis, Sound Ocean Science (SOS) strives to advance marine ecology & conservation research — and support its application — in academic, private, public, and non-profit settings. OUR MISSION

Towards better outcomes for both the sea and the people who rely on it, we aim to increase inclusivity and efficacy in science and conservation by working directly on-the-ground with underserved communities, as well as by communicating our science through creative and adaptive education programs. Our research is global — we currently focus work in East Africa and the Caribbean, but participate in and support projects worldwide.
